Yeah, I haven’t used this thing a whole lot. I’ve been busy in my IRL adventures, jet-setting to such exotic locales as Bristol, England and Hercules, California. Exhilarating, I know.

Today I’m going to set my sights on a fairly new phenomenon. It involves usually terrible bands trolling the internet, in particular Twitter, looking for negative reviews of themselves and responding directly to the person. This NEVER happened before. If I had something to say about a band, I would post something on my Livejournal or whatever rudimentary blog or Usenet site we were using back in the 90s and I could be sure that only my very small group of readers would ever see it. We could have our own little private laugh about it, no one’s feelings were hurt, and I felt a great sense of accomplishment because I had “told them”! The world could finally be warned of your awful art! Now I can almost GUARANTEE that if I give my ‘140 characters or less’ review of something I find unsavory, I’m going to get a response from the band that probably has a Google alert set to their name and gets butt hurt every time someone points out the obvious. 

Can’t people just let criticism go? Trust me guys, for every review you get like this…

So don’t worry about what some 34 year old bitter, fat, jaded, hardcore ex-kid thinks about your “music”. From time to time I’ve been known to hate a lot things… snow, the color purple, some of my own friends, my parents, Boston sports, drinking, not drinking, airport security, France, boating, etc. Who cares what I think really? Quit Googling yourself. You’re not as important as you think. Just go write some better music. And while you’re at it, if you’re going to play an Eddie Van Halen guitar you better DAMN WELL be playing some licks ala ‘Hot For Teacher’. Otherwise just use the MacBook that generated the rest of your tracks.
